NOTHING LEFT HERE (PT VII) Hey now, It’s a wonderful night. Let’s go out and play now Underneath the moonlight. Time and tide wait for no one So pack a bag And let’s get out of here. No time to delay now, So come and spend it with me. Let’s sail far away now While there are fish in the sea. There ain’t no mistaking, oh no, no That the ending ain’t clear But there’s no point in waiting, oh no, no Until there’s nothing left here. Let’s go do something heart-warming, Sleep under the open sky. Don’t wanna wake up every morning On the wrong side of goodbye. Say now How you want it to be. We should be on our way now. Ain’t you coming with me? And I don’t have the answers, oh no, no. Ah, but let me be clear: If we don’t take our chances, oh, oh, oh There’ll be nothing left here.

Wonderful 04:07
WONDERFUL Nothing could go wrong Nothing could go wrong Time didn’t seem important Seemed the more we lived The less there was to do Save from starting up anew As good intentions changed their face We had to give the devil back his due He’s not waiting just for you Though the crime shows in their faces Think you’ll find no mirror held up to Them ‘cause that would never do Nothing could go wrong. Chorus: I don’t know whether All that remains to be wonderful Is to cover out tracks ‘cause we ain’t coming back, no. All that remains are the wonderful Who walk out of this place With a smile on their faces Happy just to carry on, oh-oh. Everybody string along Happy just to play it wrong, oh-oh Got to get along. Maybe Marx sleeps in the dark But Queen Victoria speaks through my TV Says we’re free to think we’re free. Be it ever so weird and wonderful All guiding lights still have a tendency To cast shadows over me. Where did we go wrong? Chorus

The Only One 03:01
The Only One I got the world before me The king of all I see You know you can’t ignore me Ain’t got a thing on me. Whatever hope or glory Whatever light you shone You’re gonna hear the story How I’m the only one Chorus: Yeah, I’m the only one. Always been I’ll always be the only one. Always be I’ve always been the only one Gonna shine bright like the sun ‘Cause I’m the only one It’s always me they mention Whatever name you use. You think you’re in contention But you know who they’ll choose. Whatever dreams you’re smokin’ Whatever tales you spun, My door is always open Just call on number one.
4.
AFTER THE DARKNESS Reach for tomorrow, Not for yesterday. What’s done is done, Doesn’t mean that we can’t find a way. Gonna be some bridges burned, Some people left behind. Gonna be more trouble ‘fore you find your peace of mind. After the silence, After all the pain, I will be beside you all the way. After all the violence Love will come again And we won’t be divided anyway. Caught in a riptide Where it’s only calm deep down. But we’re clinging to the surface And we’re trying not to drown. When you realise much of what you have Is more than you need Emptiness is only an illusion That you feed Yeah, after the silence, After all the pain, I will be beside you all the way. After all the violence I will feel no shame. Nothing will divide us anyway.
5.
Needles 04:32
NEEDLES Yes, they’re gonna squeeze you like a lime wedge On a dollar beer night Bleed your pool of precious moments dry. Push you ‘til you’re hanging from a high ledge Where nothing seems to feel right When they’re coming at you from all sides. I try to hold on what’s right next to me Stick through ‘til the end Managing my expectations. Better days more myth than memory, It’s easy to pretend We are but a symptom, not the cause. Pre:
Maybe you’ll explain, Why does it have to be all Death or glory? I can’t understand it for you That would be A different story Chorus: Every day above ground is a good day Stepping over the pins and needles Along the way. Seems the dumb and dangerous and tragic Swallowed a delusion Sold by braggarts and loudmouthed buffoons. Rustled up a faded flag like magic, Fed us an illusion, Half the masses dancing to their tune. Every day’s a brand new test for me Hope it never ends In some golden age of not so long ago. While they tried to make new enemies, We were making friends Onwards is the only way we know. Pre. Chorus. And there is never gonna be an easy way. You’re gonna be Stepping over more pins and needles Every single day.
6.
HOW TO SURVIVE (And Stay Good) Part of every generation Fears the best times are all in the past. And we live inside reflection Forever hoping that the bad ties don’t last. The last true believers Have come to relieve us, But you’ll have to wait in line. You can choose fantasy, I’ll take reality. Works for me every time. Through layers of chaos And absent-minded collisions Where everything’s supposed to mean something. In a bright-tile world of bruises and Band Aids, All I know is I know nothing Chorus:
If I could show you, I would How to survive and stay good. We all need to be drifters And everyday grifters, knowing We’re here but a short moment in time, Gone in the blink of an eye. In the cage of our mortality Where more questions than actions reside. What remains will be our legacy, Far beyond wishful thinking or pride. The last true believers Ain’t gonna relieve us No, you’ll have to draw your own lines. It’s what happens when fantasy Meets with reality. Chorus Repeat chorus.

Any Day Now 05:02
ANY DAY NOW Oh, what a day, What a night, What a lifetime so far. Yeah, we are only victims of all circumstances Beyond control. All the workers busy building an exterior Trying to cover up a crumbling exterior. Seems like all the best things Always shimmer with fear. We’re never ready when Out of the shadows comes a new light Telling everybody it’ll be alright. We woke up in another time when History’s repeating itself. I’d be happy to share the silence, But, if you must say anything Chorus 1: Say it ain’t over, Tell me we can live for one more day. Yeah, tell me it ain’t over, Show a sign that help is on its way Any day now. Oh, what a show, What a night of a lifetime, so far. A message from the underground Spelling out the horror That’s about to unfold. Do you remember how the backdrop was all greenery ‘Til somebody came and tore up all the scenery? It ain’t a work of fiction; It’s got so bad you couldn’t even make it up. On the sidelines, we were just observers. Hope your fairy-tale saints preserve us. We woke up in another time when History’s repeating itself. There is something to say for silence, But, if you must say anything Chorus 2: Say it ain’t over, Tell me now that help is on its way. Tell me it ain’t over, Show me how to live for one more day. Any day now. If we’re headed for oblivion, I wanna spend another night with you. Any day now. If it’s gonna get Darwinian, We should be together Though there’s nothing we can do. Chorus 2 Chorus 1
9.
LOST ILLUSIONS The wall is words The harder you hold on The faster it all falls apart And the rubble will be dust in time. And we’ll give our lost illusions One more try. We trip and fall, Lost in a rumour, Looking back to days gone by To fool ourselves We ain’t out of time. Still they’re building more tunnel ‘cause they can’t see any light at the end Again and again. Yet we give our lost illusions One more try. If we twist and swerve From the manipulation, Maybe we won’t fall apart And we’ll be together one last time. Then we’ll give our lost illusions One more try One more try One more try.

MORTAL BABIES Some walk through life’s thorns unscathed Some are always skinned alive And whichever hand fate waves Try to make it so that next time you will rise There will never be Somebody who does right by everyone Do you need me to show you? Life’s a long misunderstanding for the few Ever human. We are thin as tissue paper And it tears us to be wise But there’s nothing sadder than to be a fool. There will never be Somebody who does right by everyone Do you need me to show you? Locked in the heart of everyone x2 Maybe if there was more time Madness wouldn’t impersonate reason everywhere There will never be Somebody who does right by everyone Do you need me to show you? Life’s a puzzle to the angry multitude Ever human. Locked in the heart of everyone x2 On a razor-clean rain-washed morning When the ashes are burning You will see We’re no more than mortal babies. Senses are lost and renewed It’s all that you can To believe in the news But you will see We’re no more than mortal babies.

NOTHING LEFT HERE PART VIII To those who can hear this It means we are all gone. The fools remained fearless Took the light that we shone. The air was polluted So we went underground Our dreams were all neutered It got all upside down. Hope you’re all out of danger, Hope you’re safe with someone. Hope you make a few changes And don’t do what we’ve done. It grieves me to say this Yeah, it brings me to tears You know, the point where we fail is When there’s nothing left here The sting in the tail is Knowing nothing’s left here.

about

You’re getting it now, you’ve been here before, you know what to expect. Right? ‘There is Nothing Left Here’. Car park graveyards and ghost walk emptiness? I don’t want to spoil the surprise but as you swing in to action, Stetson at the ready you’ll be bracing yourself in a whole new way, the seventh time’s the charm my friend.
What’s remarkable about Sinombré is the fusion not just of styles but concepts under an umbrella that sways to a hundred beats and still somehow makes perfect sense. The second track of chapter IV is one of those indescribable beauties that reminds you of everything you already know as ‘Wonderful’, and yeah – you do already know it.
The imagery of a Fistful of Dollars provides the perfect backdrop for track three as you face down the horse mounted, scruffy, gun toting cowboy with no name as he spits on the ground at your feet. Not much clue as to how you can persuade him but he’s ‘The Only One’ who can help you.
There’s a welcome respite from the arid plains ‘After the Silence’ like a glass of cool fresh mountain water. You can rest up and gather yourself for the next part of the journey, it’s OK to find moments of happy between the darkness and fear, just don’t drop your guard.
There’s no such thing as a standout track when they’re all magnificent but ‘Needles’ would be the first single from this Chapter. A slow grower with a rhythm that’s in your head from the off, a sublime downbeat vocal layer and a bridge that is a hook in itself. “Every day above ground is a good day”, I’ll drink to that and I hope I get to see the man play this track live one day.
‘How to Survive (and stay good)’ sounds like a lesson many could benefit from right now. “You could use fantasy, I’ll take reality, it works for me every time”. But as the selfish and ignorant takes over, the audience grows smaller with each passing day.
There’s something strangely familiar about the ‘Celestial Spooks’, an homage to previous interludes but still a new kind of fear, there’s always something else out there waiting to hurt you. The ‘False Prophet’ will show you an oasis but walk away, it’s a lie. There is nothing left here.
There’s a state between wake and sleep which we all experience at least twice a day. A confusion where ‘it was all just a dream’ could be true. A moment where the darkness never happened, the fear wasn’t real and our loved ones never left. But then like a wall falling down the truth of it all will come flooding back ‘Any Day Now’. “Say it ain’t over, show us now that help is on its way”.
How long can this last? This isolation. This absence of normality. It’s tiring, it’s draining. Each day feels longer than the last as the ‘Lost Illusions’ begin to blend in to one. Things that used to matter have been forgotten, why bother? It’s difficult even to care these days.
This chapter of Sinombré takes it’s moniker from the penultimate track; ‘Mortal Babies’; an epic near eight minute track that blends ‘Dirt’ era Alice in Chains with a Ravi Shankar sitar and Miro’s unmistakeable vocals.
The catastrophe could not be stopped, but deep underground; a remnant, a memory, ancient and dusty and alone. The lights whir up for a haunting record from an age long gone “For those who can hear this, it means we are all gone”. The final message from the last bunker of lost hope… now dust and bones. Possibly the most important words uttered, but ultimately there is ‘Nothing Left Here’.
