lyrics

People used to live around here.
We had everything.
Factories and schools,
Family houses, hustle-bustle,
Firesides and showers and TV dinners.
Now it’s all tumbleweed.
Car park graveyards and ghost-walk emptiness.

The turbines stopped turning.
And whole villages burned to the ground.
Kids walked barefoot and lived in mud-brick houses.
Zoo animals stalked the streets,
And it smelled of garbage and rotting food
And stagnant water;
The homeless, the dying, and the dead.

We were scared most of the time.
But by then fear had lost all its meaning.
Could have been a whisper.
Could have been a scream.

Some said it was the end of days.
Me?
I don’t know what to think.
