True at First Light

from B.O.A.T.S. by Paul Miro

lyrics

There was an angel
She jumped out of a train
Into the arms of a stranger
Who thought he’d gone insane.
He said he’d lost everything:
His love, his job, his home.
And she took his sadness
And said, ‘No one’s alone.’

He dried her tear and caught her fall
And then his problems seemed so small.
She said, ‘We weren’t supposed to have it all,
It’s enough, what’s your own.’

Chorus:
It was true at first light
An angel came to play
And he held her all night
But knew she couldn’t stay.
And the moon was so bright
He had to turn away
Though he thought he just might
Have watched her fade away.

There was an angel
She flew without a plane
Into the life of
A man who’s legs were chained.
And he told her stories
Of all the evil he had done.
‘Nobody’s perfect,’ she said.
‘But there’s good in everyone.’

He cried a tear, she said, ‘Trust me.’
And from the air she pulled a key
And in his mind he was set free
It’s enough just to be.

Chorus.

If I see imaginary people
I don’t mind, they help me sleep at night
If I see imaginary people
I don’t mind if things turn out alright.

Chorus.
